Hormonal & Women's Health
We see many patients for cycle-related pain and for the symptoms that come with perimenopause. Acupuncture and clinical nutrition are supportive care here, and we work alongside your OB/GYN or reproductive endocrinologist rather than in parallel with them.
What we treat
- PMS & Irregular Menstrual Cycles
- PCOS & Endometriosis Support
- Fertility & Pre/Postnatal Support
- Perimenopause & Menopause Symptoms (Hot Flashes, Night Sweats)
What the evidence shows
The Cochrane review of acupuncture for period pain found that acupressure appears to reduce pain and that acupuncture may improve both the mental and physical components of quality of life, while rating the overall body of evidence as low quality.
For PCOS, the 2025 Cochrane update concluded that acupuncture compared with sham acupuncture may have little or no effect on live birth, ovulation, clinical pregnancy, or miscarriage rates, and that minor side effects are probably more common with acupuncture than with sham. We therefore do not offer acupuncture as a stand-alone fertility treatment, and we will say so plainly in your consultation.
For menopause, an umbrella systematic review and meta-analysis found that acupuncture reduced the frequency and severity of hot flashes compared with no treatment, with effects persisting up to three months, but did not differ significantly from sham acupuncture.
