Digestive & Metabolic Health

This is where clinical nutrition does most of the work. We start with a dietary assessment rather than a supplement list, and we refer for gastroenterological workup whenever symptoms warrant it.

What we treat

  • IBS, Bloating & Abdominal Pain
  • Acid Reflux & Heartburn
  • Systemic & Chronic Inflammation
  • Gut Health & Digestive Function
  • Metabolic & Weight Management Support

What the evidence shows

We will be candid here: the sham-controlled evidence for acupuncture in this area is not strong. A systematic review of 17 randomized trials covering 1,806 patients found no benefit of acupuncture over credible sham acupuncture for IBS symptom severity or IBS-related quality of life, although patients did report greater improvement than with pharmacological therapy in the less rigorous trials.

For weight management, a 2024 network meta-analysis found that laser acupuncture and electroacupuncture added to usual care produced small but statistically significant reductions in body weight, while other modalities did not reach significance.

Terms such as "leaky gut" and "dysbiosis" describe areas of active research rather than settled clinical diagnoses, and we treat them that way. What we can offer honestly is a careful dietary history, sensible nutritional guidance, and prompt referral when your symptoms point somewhere we cannot help.
